Michel Wieggers
Michel Wieggers werkt met verscheidene materialen en technieken aan een consistent oeuvre dat vertelt over patronen en texturen, over repetitie en gelaagdheid.
Hij combineert verschillende tekentechnieken, plaatst houtskoollijnen in rasters over elkaar en verweeft aquarelstreken tot dichte vlakken. Op deze manier ontstaan tekeningen die een verwantschap hebben met geweven stoffen . Daarnaast werkt hij met corduroy die hij beschildert en lossnijdt in dunne lijnen: de losgesneden
corduroy laat afwisselend voor- en achterzijde zien waardoor een dynamisch grafisch beeld ontstaat.
Michel’s abstracte werk toont in eerste instantie formalistisch maar blijkt bij nader onderzoek verrassend zinnelijk, complex en gelaagd.
With several materials and techniques Michel Wieggers works on a consistent oeuvre that tells about patterns and textures, repetitions and stratification. To create closed surfaces he combines several drawing techniques such as charcoal lines, placed into grids, and watercolor strokes, resulting in drawings which appear to have a close filiation with woven fabrics.
Michel also works with corduroy, which he paints and cuts into thin lines; the freed corduroy allows alternately to see the for- or the backside thus creating a dynamic graphic image.
Michel’s abstract works appear formalistic at first but, on closer examination, are surprisingly carnal, complex and layered.
